NUTRITION SERVICES

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist is available to you at the Greater Pittston YMCA! If you are looking for advice on how to help control your weight, improve athletic performance or manage your medical condition, seeing an RDN might be just what you need.

What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a food and nutrition expert who takes the science of nutrition and puts it into healthy living solutions for you. They are certified by the Accreditation Counsel for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics while continuing their education. The majority of RDNs work in hospitals and other health-care facilities. Some RDNs work in community settings, academia and research. A growing number of RDNs work in journalism, sports nutrition, and corporate wellness programs.

What can an RDN do for you?

An RDN will provide you with the best advice on food and nutrition to help you improve your lifestyle. Through measurements, diet history and goals, the dietitian will work hand in hand with you to make changing your lifestyle worth it!

Meet your Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

EMILY RICHTERS, MS RDN LDN
I became interested in nutrition during high school, where I educated myself every day and started my own healthy habits. I originally come from Michigan, earned my Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and recently received my Master’s degree in Sports Nutrition and Exercise Science from Marywood University. For over two years I have been serving the Greater Pittston YMCA community as the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I enjoy counseling clients for sports nutrition, weight management, diabetes, child nutrition and maternal nutrition, while also educating the community in seminars and education sessions. I enjoy living a healthy lifestyle through running, playing soccer and volleyball and cooking a variety of foods! My passion as a dietitian continues to grow every day from the clients I have and the accomplishments I see.
